Description

Some teas are made for drinking, and some are made for the moment before drinking — the box opening, the foil unfolding, the first breath of aroma before the water even touches the leaf. This is the second kind. Sourced from a single high-altitude estate in Ilam, these are hand-picked orthodox black tea leaves selected for tip content and leaf integrity, then finished in small batches rather than bulk-processed.

The packaging matches the leaf inside it. Each box is carved from solid wood in a traditional Himalayan motif, lined with red velvet, and the tea itself is sealed in food-grade gold foil to lock in aroma between harvest and cup. It's the kind of presentation built for a specific moment — a gift for someone who already owns "a nice tea," a corporate gift with actual weight behind it, or a homecoming souvenir that doesn't look like it came from an airport.

Twenty-six years into building Lumbini Tea House's name in Thamel, this is the blend reserved for people who understand that Himalayan tea, done properly, belongs in something worth keeping.

Flavor Notes

  • Estate-grade orthodox black tea, hand-picked for tip content
  • Rich, full-bodied liquor with notes of honey, malt, and dried fruit
  • Smooth, low-astringency finish — no bitterness even at full strength
  • Small-batch finished for consistency and depth of aroma
  • Sealed in food-grade gold foil inside a solid wood, hand-carved box with red velvet lining

How To Prepare

  • Use 1 heaped teaspoon (about 3–4g) per cup for full-bodied strength
  • Steep in freshly boiled water (95–100°C) for 4–5 minutes
  • Best enjoyed black or with a small amount of milk — avoid oversweetening to preserve the natural honey notes
  • Use a pre-warmed teapot for the fullest aroma release
  • Do not re-steep; brew fresh for each serving to maintain quality
  • Store the gold foil pouch resealed inside the wooden box, away from heat and direct light
